Taylor attended The University of Kansas where he graduated with his Masters of Architecture. Taylor practiced architecture for three years prior to moving to Nashville to explore a career in construction management.

Orchid
This eventually led him to join a a small design/build company, where his love for interior design became a job, a regular daily practice, designing and building some of the trendiest restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in the city. After 6 years in Chicago, family and an opportunity to open a new restaurant/bar in Nashville brought him back south. This situation quickly turned into a huge disappointment, which became a blessing, leading to a year of serious introspection. The Orchid Tiny House’s exterior siding is an application we’ve only seen in a few Scandinavian cabins and certainly the first application of its kind on a tiny house. We spaced and raised cedar boards off of the walls and roof to give each piece the appearance of floating.
To execute this effect, David hides LED strip lighting behind trim throughout the entire home. While you see the light pouring over a wall, creating a shape and mood, the actual source of the light is never directly visible to the eye. The valance lights run along many of the asymmetrical lines of the house and are focused on the central wall within the kitchenette. We partitioned the lights onto individual separate dimmer switches, so you can easily create different settings within each part of the home. Operationalizing Growth
Founded in 2015, New Frontier Tiny Homes designs and builds innovative and beautiful tiny homes in the world. They believe knowing their clients and what’s important to them, will help them build the clients perfect model. With over 40 years of building and design experience, they bring a unique perspective to the challenges and opportunities of tiny houses. David has chosen to translate that philosophy and his own into New Frontier.
After 3 years, he was burnt out on the city life and the fashion industry and wanted a completely different experience. An opportunity to help build and expand an orphanage in the village of Mutungu, Uganda became his next mission. After almost a year in Africa, he moved to Chicago where he got into the hospitality business, opening and operating restaurants.
What tiny home living means to the family
The principles of Mindfulness, self-reliance, self-awareness, debt-free living, sustainability, community, and intentional living became the driver of behavior. He began to cultivate his life so that the most important components were brought to the forefront of daily living instead of being relegated to free time. He knew it was time to dive head first into becoming a full time desinger.
And as the company evolved, he knew he wanted to get back into Interior Design for homes of all sizes and various businesses. In 2018, he began to seek out and take on traditional Interior Design projects. Now, the very successful tiny home arm of the business is on auto-pilot, and he has shifted more of his focus and time to Interior Design.

David Latimer and his team did a superb job customizing this 246 sq.ft. Next he moved to New York City where his passion for design began to materialize in the strange world of fashion. He worked for Ralph Lauren , starting out in retail and then moving into visual merchandising, window displays, etc.
The interior siding is all maple plywood and combines a modern look with a warm, natural feel. We placed the primary king-size bed in the loft and another full-size bed on the ground floor, behind the sofa. This sofa-bed combo was custom designed out of solid walnut and rolls seamlessly without the slightest effort. The kitchen guardrail and the HVAC closet box are also made from solid walnut to match the sofa-bed. Following the full solar eclipse of 2017, we felt inspired to recreate this experience within the home. After all, an eclipse is the ultimate and original form of valance lighting.
Bela and Spencer, the owners of the Escher Tiny House have become family, asking David to be the godfather to their daughter, Escher for which the home is named. Our design is unlike anyone else and our quality of craftsmanship and materials is unrivaled in the tiny home industry. Fantastically well crafted and absolutely packed full with innovative, intuitive and just plain cool design features, it’s impossible not to be won over by the finished product. From the Vision, to the Brand, to Architectural Design, Interior Design, Decoration/Staging, and the execution of it all in the Build, it all starts in his head and doesn’t come to life without him driving it every step of the way.

David founded New Frontier Tiny Homes to capitalize on his love for design and an incomparable eye for quality craftsmanship. The Orchid Tiny House is our version of a contemporary, gable farmhouse design. A lofted king-sized bedroom and an extra hide-away bed make this home the ideal off-grid dwelling. We reimagined the tiny house floor plan by elevating a central kitchenette in a way that creates a new lifestyle flow and dynamic spatial perspective. With a one of a kind custom valance lighting package and a completely original exterior siding package, the whole home is a study in asymmetry. While in Chicago, he began to formalize his experience designing spaces.
